Alec Katz is a sought out jazz pianist, composer and arranger who’s authentic style is true to real jazz roots, yet is original. Alec is a long time active on both Israeli and International scenes. He had played and recorded with Arnie Lawrence, Walter Blanding, Slide Hampton, Donald Harrison, Chuck Israels, Kevin Mahogany and many others.
Alec Katz has produced various projects of his own and in collaboration with the vocalist and composer Simona Arones and has been leading his own trio for more than a decade.
Alec studied classical piano and music theory since he his early age and Jazz become his passion soon after he has heard it. He did his studies at The Jerusalem Academy of Music and later at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland. His mentors were a Dutch legend Frans Elsen and the great Dr. Barry Harris.
Besides being active as a performing musician, Alec is a dedicated jazz educator. He has been teaching for more than 20 years. Many of his students have built successful musical careers locally and internationally. Alec Katz teaches jazz piano, harmony, improvisation and he is an ensembles instructor at The Center for Jazz Studies, The Israeli Conservatory Tel Aviv and at Rimon School of Music.
